A man naturally has stories to tell
But, needs someone to tell them to…
And so it is, I’ve come to write them,
To post them for others - and you.
You see, my wife says she’s heard
Them all. Even has them numbered.
I began one last night, then she said,
“That’s number nine.” Then slumbered.
But, like a poor dog caged in a kennel
A story whines and pleads to get out.
So, writing gives sweet page to commit
My wit. That’s what I’m writin’ about!
Alas, mine is a muse of necessity;
Not amusing, ‘tis indeed, my dear wife.
She inspires me to write because she
Won’t listen; thus defines this writer’s life!

Writing Prompt |
Write a poem, any length, about your muse. Who or what inspires you to write? |
Author Notes
You who read my words of wit
Are my musing family - you are it!
The woman who long shares my bed
Has no interest in what I've writ or said.
So, thanks, indeed for stopping by
To read these epistles straight from I.
They'll result not in fame or currency
But, they are fun to write for me.
