Gun to his head
Pulled the trigger
Misfire
Failure
With old friends
Misfire
Pills don’t work
Therapy’s a joke
More misfires
No one comes to visit
They say he's crazy
“Oh, he went to war”
What’s wrong?
Can’t talk, can’t listen,
Explosions in his head
Bullets rake
Nighttime shakes
Mind cracks and aches
What’s wrong?
He needs another song
No one seems to help
In Afghanistan
Was able to sleep
At home no escape
Wife’s cheatin with a
Once best friend
Life he had is waste
He ain’t no longer him
Angry, out of control
“Damage vet” they say
He can’t get rid of faces of
Fated buddies who’ll
Never come home
Shadows of men he killed
Husbands, fathers, brothers
Marching pounding in his head
He thinks if killed over there
Honor and a 21 gun salute
Would have been his
Can't take it anymore
this time, he resolves
there will be No Misfire
