The thing I love about the wren
Is from that tiny bird,
Will come the sweetest songs (and LOUD)
That I have ever heard.
It is amazing so much sound
Comes from that tiny thing
It's like a female opera star,
When it begins to sing.
Outside my bedroom window
Is a wren house—occupied;
The parents-to-be are in and out—
I’ve not looked in, but tried.
Those birds raised such a ruckus
That I moved away real fast
No babies, but when they are hatched
I’ll get a glimpse at last.
Then there'll be lots of tiny songbirds
Singing in the trees
LOUD and lovely tiny wren-song,
Music on the breeze.
And it will make me chuckle
Each and every instance when
I hear the mighty windpipes of
The Carolina Wren.
