Mad at Mom by pome lover Children's Poem contest entry |

Author Notes This poem is for kids approximately 8 - 9, I would think. It's been too long since I've been around young children. I have heard, somewhere along the way, that kids and parents will occasionally argue. Hard to imagine ;0 However, leaving the house at night with one's little sister is not a smart thing to do for several reasons, and though meeting up with a witch isn't one of them, hopefully the point is made. Also, though Uncle Joe probably isn't old, since he's an uncle, not a grandpa, he's living in a relative's house, not his own. That tends to wear on a person, and he might even get a bit grumpy. Therefore, I hope the reader will realize that this is a happy household that has its normal ups and downs. The mother is not negligent, nor the uncle, harsh or cruel. And there's not an iota of racism, unless you think witches are victims. When my granddaughter was younger and spent the night with me, I'd go in and say "Night, Sweetie. Love you." and she'd always say, "Love you more." I always loved that. |
