As a kid Saturday mornings were fun,
I’d be up with the rising sun,
It was always loose,
Watching Bullwinkle J. Moose,
Even though I’m 59, it’s too soon,
For me to name my favorite `toon,
The cartoons from my past,
Like Bugs Bunny were a blast,
From 'Rootin’ Tootin’ Yosemite Sam,
To Popeye’s “I Yam What I Yam,”
From the Despicable Daffy Duck,
To Wile E Coyote’s Acme construct,
I thought nothing was better,
Than Tweety Bird besting Sylvester,
It was quiet in the room,
Awaiting Marvin’s earth shattering KABOOM,
I don’t think I’m alone,
Saying I loved Fred Flintstone,
Prime time cartoons, was a first,
It gave people an animation thirst,
In later years I had a fascination,
For Fox’s Animation Domination,
If you knew me you’d know why,
My very favorite is Family Guy,
To get your redneck humor fill,
They had King of the Hill,
It really made me sad,
When they cancelled American Dad,
My wife gets in a fervor,
Over Bob’s Burgers,
I have no idea why,
She can’t stand Family Guy,
This ain’t no jive,
I won’t deprive,
Watching a ‘toon,
Into late afternoon.
