‘Twas the beginning of the darkness
when first the lies were told –
They were but shadows without sharpness,
crazy words without foothold
But as the shadows grew in number,
happy was deception’s wraith –
For as truth’s champion did slumber,
fading still were dreams of faith
Yet on the cusp of night’s horizon,
distant stars refused to yield –
Each brazen light a distant titan
on the coming battlefield…
