There are so many sparkles in the world.
Sequins, diamonds, shiny thing in sunlight,
but nothing matches
the sparkle in my son’s eyes.
I can always tell when something’s wrong
by his eyes,
eyes that are brown, warm,
and very expressive.
As a paramedic,
his eyes have soothed many people,
so I’m told,
because of their warmth that shows caring
for people who are sick and afraid.
There are other sparkles in his eyes.
Seeing him play house with
a nine-year-old daughter is very endearing.
He lives for others,
and nothing shows it more
than the sparkle
in his eyes.

Author Notes
Sparkle was the challenge. This may not be true free verse, but it's what I wanted to write. Thank you for reading.
