No, I did not go to Wal-Mart today!
Today being Black Friday, I stayed away!
It’s not like me to declare such a thing,
Knowing the joy Wal-Mart can bring,
But, over-hyped and over-crowded be
The aisles of Wal-Mart, and others, to me;
Not worth the trouble and human tangle
Among those seeking a top savings angle.
And, in these dark days of COVID scare
Heck if I would risk life by going in there!
So, I was not among the deal-seeking throng
I was at my house, on-line, where I belong.
But, my email is filled with come-ons galore
From houses to plane rides, to much more:
A plethora of Black Friday savings, indeed,
But nearly all of it things I do NOT need!
And, Black Friday was once just one day,
Then, a week, now a month; “Stop!” I say!
Let marketeers hawketh what they gotteth,
Today, I’ll sign not upon any line dotteth!
I commit not to roam
Away from my home
Upon all Fridays' Black;
That, folks, be a fact!
