Dark raven tapping
my door keeps me up all night,
a psychopomp bird
brings news from beyond
where Eleonora dwells
among soulless fiends
trapped in thick darkness
between heaven and hades,
river of silence
in purgatory,
my beloved is waiting
for me to join her.

Ravens are kind of creepy because of its black plumage, croaking call and diet of carrion, the raven is often associated with loss and ill omen. As a talking bird, the raven also represents prophecy and insight. Ravens in stories often act as psychopomps, connecting the material world with the world of spirits.
My poem is based on Edgar Allan Poe's famous poem, The Raven; and a short story, Eleonora, The story follows an unnamed narrator who lives with his cousin and aunt in "The Valley of the Many-Colored Grass", an idyllic paradise full of fragrant flowers, fantastic trees, and a "River of Silence". It remains untrodden by the footsteps of strangers and so they live isolated but happy. The story is based on his first love, with his cousin, Eleonora. more info
The Raven BY Edgar Allan Poe
Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary,
Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore,
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of someone gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door. more info
