There was a cloud and he was sad
because he’d made the heavens mad.
The cloud had thought he’d have some fun
by blocking out the summer sun.
But that did not go over well.
The skies were mad, as he could tell.
So mad, in fact, that thunder boomed.
The little cloud thought he was doomed.
And then there was a light’ning bolt
that gave the small cloud quite a jolt.
The frightened cloud began to cry,
so raindrops fell down from the sky.
“Relax,” he heard the heavens say.
“You’ve done a special thing today.
The earth had gotten very dry.
Without the moisture, things would die.
“But now, because you’ve made it rain,
the plants on earth can grow again.
So we’re not angry anymore
about the thing you did before.
“Just keep on raining on the earth,
and prove to nature what you’re worth.
It’s thanks to you that plants can thrive
and humans, too, can stay alive.”
So now the cloud had no more fears,
and he cried only happy tears.
He also learned to change his play,
and never spoil a sunny day!
