A Minute Poem for the contest

Still Beautiful

by June Sargent

Bereft of leaves a tree seems bare -
cannot compare
with summertime
when sun was prime

Majestic branches stretching high
towards the sky,
deep red - like wine,
a gift divine

She'll drink her fill 'midst winter's chill
her roots lie still
til robins sing -
awakening
