This is a true story about an incident I had.

Big Yellow School Bus

by blondie560

Walking down the street;

I was looking at my feet.

I didn’t see the bus;

I was too much in a rush.

As I flipped the letters matching the name;

Mail delivery was the game.

When I looked up too late.

(I still remember the date.)

A school bus parked in the drive;

I’m lucky to be alive.

I smacked into the rear.

(I hadn’t had any beer.)

Imagine my shock

When I looked down the block.

A cop car cruising by

Saw the whole thing, oh my!

He probably went back to the station;

Told the others his weird observation.

They laughed on that I’d bet money;

I’m sure I looked quite funny.

The bruise on my arm

Worked like a charm.

To remind me of my lack of grace,

And the embarrassment on my face

The motto is thus:

Neither snow nor rain nor big yellow school bus....

I was a mail carrier for 19 years and I have lots of weird stories, but walking into a school bus was by far the dumbest!
P.S. IĆ¢??ve never written a poem before. Artistic stretch with bus/rush
