Intellectual disability
itself, is an adversity
Blocks and barricades are faced
challenges all day
 
Little things that you and I
take for granted as life flows by
The ability to feed oneself
or know just what to say
 
Every second of every day
they face head on in their own way
the hardships that present themselves
some are overcome
 
But as that celebration dies
realization that other tests arise
A never-ending circle
to a life they must succumb
