A monorhyme for current times...

This Present Road

by Y. M. Roger

As eagles high on hilltop reign,
their piercing strains
all but mundane…

So too the human soul proclaims
the spirit’s pain
won’t be constrained.

As such ye fiends who would restrain,
whose acts profane
seem inhumane…

Should note the coming hurricane
from dreams aflame
and lives defamed.

For dice are cast, foundations lain:
time’s weather vane
forecasts much rain…

And when the eagle cries again,
pray peace reclaim
freedom’s refrain.
