Surprise Reversal

He had it planned.
First, a Rolls-Royce ride. Next, they would meet friends and see in the New Year. Or so she thought.
At a specified time, he would whisk her from the party and they would stroll by a nearby fountain where he would read a prepared proposal poem.
Action time, the ride was beautiful. Dinner and party were great. They went walking.
“Rebecca,” he began.
“Charlie,” she was down on one knee.
The surpriser had become the surprised.
