Rainy Day Song

by HarryT

Rain pelted the hot asphalt street
Steam rose in misty, curling streaks
From our front porch we hear a bellow
my little brother singing isn't mellow
he shouts his usual rainy-day song,
"Rain, rain please go away,
me and Jake want to play,
come again some other day."
After the twentieth rendition
Mom yells from the kitchen
"I know your song is tradition
please stop, we need an intermission."
