What Jealousy?

by Boogienights

It's so hard nowadays to be jealous,
of all things people have,
 what they've earned.
It's in our makeup to succeed, to be zealous.
As this year passes, there's much that I've learned.
I found out that my life is simply priceless.
There have been so many felled by  pandemic,
All races, rich and poor ended  lifeless,

 and racist hate
it seems, now is systemic.

Too many people these days seem to suffer,
the homeless with no food,  hope, or money.
Though it stays for those who have it rougher,
is envy still a thing? That's just too funny!
My family lifts me up when I feel
blue,

if I envy, it's for all we have lost.
The freedom to live life like we used to,
disease and violence came, burned cities the cost.

I was once jealous of those who had more money,
of those who had great talents, movie stars.
My darkest days, when others had it sunny,
caused me envy that cut deep and left scars.
Jealousy is not an issue,
 in my life.
I realize now the worth of all
 I have.
I've found peace deep within, I've put behind, strife.
It's for life, love, health, and family I'm glad.

Sometimes the green-eyed monster takes you over,
coveting a bigger house, shiny sports car.
Friend, just stop and understand that you're in clover.
It's not WHAT you have but WHO, and who you are.
