My inspiration comes and goes
It sometimes comes from reading prose
Or if I’ve heard a sad lament
That stirs my heart and tears are spent.

I often lie in bed at night
As words collect with lack of light
My mind’s awash with inspiration
The words come swiftly with elation.

I may decide to rise and write
Or memorize and say goodnight
There are times when my memory
Just pushes forth a reverie

It happens often every day
There isn’t any special way.
My confirmation from the start
But all is truly from my heart.
