Missing a lost love.

Christmas Eve Walk

by HarryT

He loops his scarf, zips his jacket tight
Down icy stairs into the silver moonlight
Cold night sky spangled a star-frosted sight
Christmas lights peep from a wrapping of white
Icicles sparkle with white diamond flare
Breath-sprites dance in the bitter night air
Window-framed lovers with gifts to share

Soul reaches back to a long-ago prayer
An apparition before him, her beguiling face
Spun from long suppressed memory lace
Savoring the wine of their youthful embrace
He hopes, he wishes, she would stay
But a spiteful wind sweeps her away
Alone he walks the Christmas Eve night
