Some Blues Are Perfect

Blizzard blue, on ice,
I catch a ghostly glimmer, a shimmer
of memories within a pristine paradise.

Lost in this freezing frost,
I’ve been chipping away at iceberg blues;
deep, dense, the depth immense.

What have I got to lose?
Time’s glacial pace marked on a slate —
it’s not for me to choose my heartbeat’s race.

Too late,
cold-shouldered, I yearn.
In my indigo dreams, dare I hope you’ll return?

I want to float in turquoise waters
that lap, sun-dappled, under cerulean skies.
Then, happily, I’ll drown in your sapphire eyes.
