A young soldier dies on the battlefield.
Wasted Life
by HarryT
In faraway Afghanistan, a young soldier lies on his back, suffering mortal shrapnel wounds. Blood flows from his chest and stomach. A medic runs to the soldier and kneels by his side. Tears water the medic’s eyes as he works, but he can do little to stem the drain of life. He administers morphine to ease the soldier’s pain. The youth reaches up and pulls the medic close to his lips and whispers, “Tell my mother I love her and I’m sorry, I won’t be coming home.”
