Poor Reflection

by Bill Schott

An imitating image
mocks me in the mirror.
This burlesque caricature
impersonates my mind's construction,
though it corresponds to what is here to see.

Reflection is often flawed
by the sordid subject himself.
This specter,
echoed back to judging eyes,
is found lacking and unfit to be seen at all.

I wish to enable an emulation
mimicking more my own evaluation.
Thus, this sad sight's antecedent
will be adequately adjusted until
the glass returns a smiling master passing muster.
