While She Is Still Here

by Therese Caron

Dear God, give Anne a gentle day
Take the endless suffering away
Give her strength enough to have a voice
I struggle for strength, I have no choice.

Make her legs strong so she stands alone
The pain in her legs just mocks each bone
She is weak, tired, and very thin
Open her windows, let comfort come in.

She is my sister, I can't bear her pain
I prayed for a miracle, prayers were in vain
You are taking her home, that's very clear
But please, God, give her comfort while here.
