A doomed relationship.

Black Heart, Blue Eyes

by LisaMay

I thought it was love, I wanted you, true;
but your heart was black, so my mood is blue.
I do not want you back – now we are through.

Your angry face was black like thunder.
Rage is a disgrace; it’s no wonder
I fled, away to the blue yonder.

What could I do? I had to renew.

Chill blue blazed shards from your eyes of ice;
to bear your black moods I’ve paid the price.
You were at fault, yet it’s me you blame,
so you raised your fists, aiming to maim.

Now black and blue, I’m over you.

When our troubled love became push and shove,
I prayed for guidance to the Lord above.
Now I kneel at Mary’s blue hem and pray
that evil’s blackness will stay away.

A bluebird sings for a happier day.
