As The Day Winds Down

as the day winds down,

sunflowers silently droop —

grandma nods in peace

 


 


Writing Prompt
For this contest you are challenged to write a Haiku poem. Haiku is a form of poetry that only uses three lines. A popular format is to have the first line contains five (5) syllables, the second line seven (7) syllables, and the third line contains five (5) syllables but a strict syllable count is not required.

Sunflowers (Himawari) are the Summer Flowers in Japan. Meaning -Adoration, Loyalty, Longevity.

Definition: haiku is a short poem that uses imagistic language to convey the essence of an experience of nature intuitively linked to the human condition.

The essence of haiku is cutting (KIRU) represented by the juxtaposition of two images or ideas separated by a (KIREJI) dash or ellipsis (~ ... )

KIGO (seasonal reference), usually drawn from a (SAIJIKI) an extensive list of season terms. if you wish to read a saijiki
