Politics

by dovemarie

Politics can be a crazy game
A mad race for a claim to fame
Campaigns, press conference, voting poll
All the hard work takes its toll

Pound the pavement,
Make a statement
Every two or four years
Candidates fight for brilliant careers

Day of election
So hard to make a selection
Republican, Democrat, liberal, conservative,
Banners and slogans so descriptive

Who will get into the Oval?
Who will celebrate in Washington Square?
Who will be members of the President's inner circle?

So many choices,
Political promises,
Our government voices

Rules and regulations
Scandals and assassinations

Legislative, Executive, Judicial
Can we trust each elected official?

I can't wait for this political game to end,
And for peace to guide us, on which we can depend
