How far will I go

Keep Up with the Joneses

by samandlancelot

I hid my gems from thieves who stole my rings
My marriage sign ripped past my knuckle's hold
Abundance flashed, enticed my neighbor's bling
The Joneses pawned my things and boldly sold

Another way to keep up pace and thrive
I taunt and flaunt my form despised of him
Deride his wife and use him as a bribe
To stab her back and shimmy on the brim

he fills his coffers with my gen'rous gifts
and basks in this deceptive diva's wrath
a bitter, better catch in me, he drifts
apart from her and down my trech'rous path

the guillotine erected for her spouse
conveniently, the felon and the louse
