Releaseth Me Anon

by pome lover

Shall I compare thee to a Covid day
When yet another boring dawn arrives
So filled with sameness, I awake and say
Forsooth! I needst to live, not just survive?
T’was thought, when first I met thee, thou wast fun,
That thou possessed a soul like mine and smart,
But now, thy countenance denies the sun
And nothing but an empty jar thou art.
How long must I endure this for-ced time?
Six feet be not sufficient to the task;
Patience may to some be thought sublime,
But freedom beckons like wine from the cask –
Thus, as at the bit a horse does chomp,
I, without restraint, desire to romp
