Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level
A sardonic twist on the celebration.

English Language

For poets, the twenty third of April might be a memorable day
Honoring the English Language and Shakespeare passing away
This date observes his passing, as well as the date he was born
Thus, creating a dual purpose; a day to celebrate and to mourn

The celebration has been expanded, now covering all thirty days
We now rejoice in the English language in many special ways
There remains one exception, which I think should be undone
Living in America, for English, I should not have to press one!

Soooo, April is almost upon us... but do you REALLY know what that means? Well, it COULD mean a whole host of things... but you must CHOOSE ONE. That's right! The link below will bring you to the humongous list of things for which April has been designated the OFFICIAL MONTH for.

Your poetry assignment, should you choose to accept it, is to pick ONE** of those items on that list and write an EIGHT LINE RHYMED POEM about it. There is no specified rhyme scheme, so it's totally your call how the rhyming will work for your OFFICIAL MONTH** choice. However, when it's all said and done, it must be EXACTLY EIGHT (Octo) lines and it must RHYME. **Remember to include your OFFICIAL MONTH choice in your author notes!!

Please keep it CLEAN (I've seen some of those choices on there) and kick it up a notch with your presentation: make us WANT to celebrate April for your choice because WE ALL NEED SOME celebration!! Oh, and, of course, the more celebratory, the more we?ll want to vote for your Octo-Poem!!
