On this journey
"Time to go," he said to her,
he held out his strong hand.
"We're on a very tight schedule,
I hope you understand."
She didn't see the hidden wings,
perhaps it never mattered.
She only saw her earthly shell,
bloody, bent, and shattered.
A crowd had gathered 'round it,
as she watched just from the curb.
"That can't be me," she whispered,
the thought was so absurd.
"In time you'll come to understand,
that this was meant to be."
"It's just as well." the Angel said,
"Let's leave now, you're set free."
She took his hand, reluctant
to leave this world behind.
Scared and yet, excited
of what it was she'd find.
Is there a Heaven somewhere?
Did he think that she'd get in?
Did only pure souls qualify,
those souls devoid of sin?
Or can the ones who make mistakes
get chances to explain?
Why sometimes they were selfish,
sometimes caused others pain.
The Angel's face was peaceful,
"Fear not, because you'll see,
that God loves all his children,
that's the reason He sends me."
"Just ask for His forgiveness."
And then he touched her hand.
It was in that instant
she began to understand.
When we return to Heaven
it truly is our home.
The Earth is just a pit-stop,
a place for souls to roam.
To find life, love, and laughter.
To comfort, nurture, give.
A place to learn new lessons,
a lovely place to live.
But now true home awaits her,
no hesitation here.
She enters through the brilliant light,
with no regrets or fear.
Gentle winds on clouds await,
while Heavenly bells chime.
A joyous song without an end,
that goes on for all time.
