forest fire

Silver Lining Contest Winner
Terrain lays marred
in a forest scarred,
blackened trees still stand.

Critters are gone
silenced bird song,
since flames swept over this land.

In chilled morning rain
I stroll by again,
to find saplings push through ashy sand.
