Nonet: Memory's Essence

In Vase of Blue

In honor of my mother, Ann Rachel Kenel: 1923 - 2007

Her essence greets me from the doorway.
Amid shafts of golden sunshine,
fourteen nodding narcissus
clustered in vase of blue.
Bending, I inhale
a lifetime of
memories
as tears
fall.
