The Communion

I bowed my head as I received the Eucharist.
"He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me," intoned the old priest.
"Thank you, Father. I truly looked forward to Holy Communion, seeing you again."
"Has it been a long year for you, Joseph? You don't look well."
"Yes . . . very."
"How much longer?"
"Ages."
The guard opened my cell's door."
"Hope to see you next year, Father."
