A Rhyming contest entry...

My Valentine Lost

On this, a very special day,
it's time for lovers to express
how much they've always meant to each,
a tender love they do confess.

But here I am with memories,
and salty tears stream down my face;
for loving nights are lost to me,
in heaven you have found your place.

These days I now must face alone,
with only memories for me;
the flowers that were once all mine,
I leave now on your grave sadly.

RHYMING VALENTINE'S DAY LOVE POEM contest entry


In memory of all those who gave their life and to all those women and men who sacrificed their loves for the defense of us all. Especially my dear sister who I wrote this poem for. She lost her boyfriend in Afghanistan in 2010. May God wrap his arms around you on this day for lovers.
