Wings in the Wind

by fm wright

Once night had relinquished its hold,
the dawn of time then began to unfold;
for as I heard the fluttering of wings in the wind
I watched as a flight of doves towards heaven ascend.
Peace had sole reign over all
in the time that preceded mankind's fall.

Though the day has taken its hold,
the sun cannot warm hearts that are ice cold;
for as I hear wing engines sputtering in the wind
I watch fighter drones first ascend then descend.
Peace has lost reign over all;
for wars have closely followed mankind's fall.

Night again will reclaim its hold:
that's when the end of time will then unfold;
for when I hear a fluttering of wings in the wind
I'll watch while an angel assembly descends.
Peace will reign then over all;
as in the time before mankind's fall.
