A mom (and duck) remember...

Now That They're Gone

by Y. M. Roger

Rubber Ducky Even The Odds Contest Winner

Not much
paint remains now
on his aged yellow skin.
But he winks one eye and whispers,
“No worries. You and me, mom, we did good.”
Smiling, I answer that duck-billed grin,
“Baths were fun, Duck, thanks to you.
Good times were many
and bad times,
few…”

Writing Prompt
Write an Even the Odds Poem pertaining to RUBBER DUCKIES. That's right folks, the 'favorite fowl' bath toy whose 140th birthday is this year has its very own day. That day is January 13th. Therefore, to honor such a prestigious celebration, you are to write an Even the Odds poem that somehow, someway incorporates the traditionally yellow fellow as the focus. And if you don't believe me that there really is such a day, check out this link:

Now, without further ado, go draw yourself a hot bubble bath and get out that rubber ducky to inspire! Then grab your pen and impress us, make us laugh, make us cry, but just get us to vote for your rubber ducky rendition! :)

As a reminder, the 'Even-the-Odds' poetry format has a syllable count of 2-4-6-8-10-9-7-5-3-1 [starts out with evens and finishes with odds]
The first line (two syllables) and the last line (one syllable) are essentially synonyms
There is no rhyme requirement, although it isn't discouraged.
An example is included below of this announcement although REMEMBER TO CENTER your text [very loosely resembling a diamond-shape. Note the 'loosely' here... perfection is not required!]

Evening Performance
By Y. M. Roger

................................Fairies
......................Flit through the air
....................Chromatic symphony
............Of effulgent streaks and glitter
Performing 'neath where the trees meet the stars
........Tonight, the crickets and frogs join in
...............Enhancing the vibrant show
......................You?ll never forget
..........................Dancing with
..............................Sprites!

(I tried to center it...editor is VERY primitive - LOL! But you get the idea!)
