(This one told by a Koala)
'Cause That's What We Aussies Do
I am the Koala reporter and I am here to tell
Of the flames that climbed to heaven from the fire as hot as hell
I have lost my home and family and my new fone as well
Sorry about the spelling, because I never quite learned to spell
I've lived my life in forests safely all over this wide land
The dumbest thing I ever heard was, 'back burning should be banned.'
It's a cry from the uninformed, they simply don't understand
Fire's part of earth's regeneration when it's controlled and planned
My family have lived here long before Captain Cook arrived
We have seen rivers flood, droughts and fires and we have all survived
But this year's fire near done us in, in a place we've always thrived
I half suspect the Green's argument is in a way contrived
To all those who have helped us through, we Koala's say thank you
To ev'ryone whose joined in the fight and with donations too
From Echidna's and Platypus and the big red Kangaroo
We will be back before you know, 'cause that's what we Aussies do

Invariably Australian Summer's bring bush fires. This year's are the worst in probably thirty years and the damages will be in the billions of dollars. Up goes next year's insurance.
