Do not shut the door on something unexpected
Zoe and The Zebra
Zoe found a zebra one day.
He wanted her to play.
Zoe said: “No zebra, go away!
I do not want you to stay.”
The very next day, the zebra came again-to play.
Zoe said: “No way!
Go away; go eat some hay.
..but, the zebra followed Zoe to school.
Zoe said: “This is not cool!
You are not my friend.
This has to end.”
The zebra showed up every day.
Zoe said: “What am I supposed to do?”
She cried boo hoo, as she sent the Zebra to the zoo.
The Zebra was very sad, but he did not want Zoe to be mad.
So he went with a heavy heart.
He walked right to the park.
The Zebra was shoved in a cage, but did not fight or rage.
He just cried all day.
He did not want to stay.
In the morning, the zebra did not show up.
Zoe thought she was in luck.
She was happy to be alone,
with her new, cell phone.
.... but her friends at school were sad; the zebra was not there.
Zoe had no idea they cared!
Zoe had made a mistake.
This feeling was hard to shake.
Zoe decided to make things
right.
She would get him that night.
Not everyone gets a Zebra, to own.
She should have known.
When it got dark, She creeped out of her house.
She was as quiet as a mouse.
She ran to the zoo very fast.
Her Zebra might not last.
The Zoo was locked,
but she pushed through.
Zoe wanted to save her friend
and begin again.
It took her awhile,
to find her zebra in the dark.
When she found him, he was very happy.
Zoe said: "Let's make this snappy!"
The next day, she was proud to bring her zebra back to school.
Zoe was sorry, because the zebra was cool.
Her friends laughed with joy.
Zoe had saved their zebra to enjoy.
You must think twice before you ignore, the zebra at your door.
Invite him in; be a friend.
Not everyone gets a Zebra-
the end.
