My FanStory Adventure

My writing started on the dunes
with poetry and lyric tunes.
At fifteen, I had much to say
and writing seemed the only way
to express the thoughts within my heart,
the beginning of my creative start.
As I got older, I looked for ways
to get my poems out of the haze;
and even though I published some,
that pace I found was much too glum.
So on the shelf my words they went
until this year when heaven sent
my FanStory adventure show,
an avenue to learn and grow.
I brushed the dust of forty years
and trimmed my poems with edit shears.
The journey I began this May
to seek imagination’s way.
With those I’ve met, I’ve found a bond
and true support that went beyond
any that I’ve ever known;
and through their helpful tips I’ve grown.
It’s been just like a home for me
with prompts that set my talents free;
though it’s nice to win a contest,
my cherished friends are truly best.
