October's come, my garden's Autumn-kissed
and stunned I stand as colors change, then blend.
This Summer's treasures will be truly missed

as their allure and charm must surely end.
Oh, see the tattered fronds of all those ferns
which frolicked everywhere, would not stay penned.

For warmer, longer days each flower yearns,
yet purple sedum, orange nasturtiums peak--
a gush of glamor as lush green adjourns.

The maple trees' bold colors soon will shriek.
This grand finale, Nature's pastorale--
a glimpse of Eden, I am humbled, meek.

But I've, too, reached my crest, an early Fall.
My exit grandiose if He should call.
