For all of you who love Autumn

Autumn Rapture

by RodG

Sweet Autumn, how you tantalize,
strum heart strings with your vibrant hues,
cause me to clutch my pounding chest
and snuff out silence with deep sighs.

A callow youth I am again
enraptured by sly sultry wiles,
ensnared within this lair of yours
like hapless Greeks in Circe's pen.

Your beauty's left me breathless, mute,
surprised as if a curling wave
had smacked me flat on hard-packed sand.
then drained me dry, word destitute.

If sprigs of leaves teased by the breeze
caress my hands or touch my face,
I pause to smile so mesmerized.
Sweet Autumn, I adore thy trees.
