The Door

by Jerome Goldberg

The door slammed, echoing down the long hall.

I sat very still.

I sat very still for a long, long time.

I felt pain.

I tried to remember the good times.

I tried to remember how it was when it was just the two of us.

I tried to concentrate on all we did together before she moved in.

I really am in pain.

Maybe if I walk a little that will help?

No!

I need to get out! I must get out!

Think, think hard, there has got to be a way.

My bladder is stretched beyond its capacity.

Perhaps if I walk down that long hall, with my leash in my mouth and scratch on the door?

The front door slammed ... ah what a relief it is!

The Door Slammed writing prompt entry
Writing Prompt
Write a story that starts with this sentence: The door slammed, echoing down the long hall.

Don't add to the sentence. The catch is this must be flash fiction. So the story should be between 100 and 1,000 words.

Hope you enjoyed this flash fiction. It really is fiction, I have trained my person to walk me three to six times per day.
Pays one point and 2 member cents.
