Embracing Depression

by sunnilicious

Taking care of yourself can be a task.
Taking care of others isn't always a blast.
You think.
You think some more...
You toss and turn and lose sleep time.

The alarm clock goes off and you press snooze.
Snooze, snooze and snooze until you're running late.
Stretching from tiredness, you drink coffee;
One cup, two cups, three cups and anxiousness.
Days into weeks, you forget how to eat.

Everything around you is numb, including you.

Who are you?
What happened to you?
When did this all begin?
Where should you be right now?
Why is this happening to you?

How do you get back to normal?

You are a person desperate for support...
However, you must embrace the situation;
Be patient and think about everything.
Where you should be, and where you are varies.
Come up with a plan and acceptable option.

Ask questions relevant to your problem.
Take your time to understand the answer,
And you will bring about changes in yourself;
Changes for your own betterment.

Don't be afraid to communicate with others.
Don't be afraid to change your surroundings.

Find ways to be optimistic.
Find ways to believe in yourself.

You are somebody.

Depression has always been a topic. And lately, the topic of depression has been everywhere I turn. There are plenty reasons for depression. Sometimes, it just happens... Or so we think. So, I decided to write a poem on the topic. I don't know if it's right or wrong. It's just me writing and pointing my finger at "YOU". Just joking... Hahahahaha.

I am far from claiming that "Happiness Title". I just feel that depression is an important topic to address. Psychology like Art is subjective, but maybe there is good for us taking a look at ourselves and making optimistic changes for ourselves and families. Our behaviors effect others as much as ourselves.
