I really don’t have a set recipe.
Something is stirred deep
Inside me to cook, so I go to
Ingredients stored in the
Pantry of my mind.

Search among jars labeled:
Sightings on walks
Fun at the shore
Afternoon delights
Basement parties
Passages in books
Artists paintings
Girlfriends past
Observations in restaurants
Sunny afternoons
Cloud mountain skies
Rainy nights
Emotions elevated
Heighten senses.

When ready to cook, select a
Dash of girlfriends past or maybe more, a
Couple of teaspoons of afternoon delights, and
Perhaps a pinch of rainy nights or cloud mountain skies.

Mix with deep emotions and heighten senses,
Spread them on paper with pen,
Let them cool, touch up, and serve.

The good thing about a poem
One may cook it, eat it
and have it too.
