Open Casket

by Mia Twysted

Ted clawed his way to the top. His breath almost expended, his hands broke through the ground that covered him. Gasping, his head burst out of the earth.

"Where is he?" Ted moaned.

Horrific screams filled the air as mourners dressed in black collapsed and fainted.

"Every damn time I get drunk," Ted said, "every time."

Brushing off the moist dirt from his clothes and hair, he nodded to the crowd.

"Ma'am. Sir. Sorry for your loss."

Ted walked away.
