Down Deep

Endless Passage

by Boogienights

Beneath the murky ocean depths,
two point four long miles down,
the North Atlantic Ocean still
cradles a ship of great renown.

One hundred and seven years ago,
the oceanliner met its fate.
On its maiden voyage, lost.
In its grand unspoiled state.

Fifteen hundred and three went down,
without much time to realize,
that death had come to claim them all.
Now they gaze through sightless eyes.

Yet, if you knew the way to go,
to where it sits, you'd see some light.
As yet, the ship still teems with souls,
playing out that fateful night.

The ship in all its glory stays,
pristine to spirits on its decks.
Above and below, life still goes on,
despite the sad and ruinous wreck.

The rich in jewels that sparkle fine,
dance as phantom music plays.
Dining on the finest fare,
as the giant liner sways.

Those below deck unaware,
spirits that look forward to
New life in a brand new land,
Now will never see it through.

Ghostly figures young and old,
still, believe they make their way.
Oblivious to time that's passed,
since that freezing April day.

On the bridge, a figure stands.
Captain Smith, whose guiding hand,
navigates the bergs of ice,
steady, quite sure of the plan.

Spirits now, who perished then,
destined to relive their plight.
Hopes and dreams still stay alive,
in dead who died too soon that night.
