One Man's Blessing...

At dinner, Mom grasped Paw-Paw’s hand.
“I’m sorry, Dad, you didn’t get in.”
Still apologetic, she turned to me. “We’ll try again next year, Scott.”
Since his accident, Paw-Paw lived with us. Namely, he’d come to share my bedroom while remaining on the exclusive wait list for Golden Acres.
“S’okay.” Paw-Paw solemnly excused himself.
Mom nodded sadly, and I followed him dutifully.
I closed our door and faced Paw-Paw. Grinning like loons, we silently high-fived.
