The Invasion

by DragonSkulls

I saw the alien spaceships
that landed by the creek.
I thought that mankind's outcome
was looking rather bleak.

I was sure they came surveying,
to see our weakest flaws.
To take our world hostage,
to overtake us all.

I watched them leave the spaceship
and venture in the woods.
So silently I followed,
as quiet as I could.

I saw their big eyes glaring,
they looked from left to right,
as if they searched for victims
that lingered in the night.

Secluded from the highway,
in darkness of the moon.
I pondered their invasion,
like just how long or soon.

Minutes passed and they returned
with no one caught to probe.
Their spaceships zoomed to warping speed
so quickly from our globe.

I went to search their footprints,
amazed at what I found.
I gazed in breathless wonder,
what lay there on the ground.

I drew a breath of solace
to our own benefit.
No world domination.
They just stopped to take a shit.
