Saying good-bye in different circumstances

A chapter in the book Word Woven Tapestries

I Kissed Him Good-bye

by fm wright

At the beginning of each new day,
before I hurried along my way,
I'd stop and take a few moments out
to dispel away any doubt
about how much it was for him I cared
and how very special was the love we shared.
In so wavering I'd give out a sigh
as I paused and kissed him a passing good-bye.

After awhile he chose to part,
though feelings for him are still in my heart.
My hurt I had no way to disguise.
In time I would come to realize
that there was nothing I could do,
except to offer him a fond adieu.
I would not allow myself to cry
as I kissed his lips in a parting good-bye.

Though life itself had marched ever on;
for the days we shared were now long since gone,
the memories of him would not dim,
and when I saw him once again
he whispered I love you with fainted breath.
Then too swiftly he passed over into death.
Tears flowing like rain pouring from my eye
I leaned down and kissed him a final good-bye.
