A chapter in the book Poetic Treasures and Dreams

My Thankyou Bowl

by dovemarie

At day's end,
I think of a friend
At the first of the year,
I think of times so dear

I create my "thank you" bowl,
Full of gratitude
Written notes, a multitude
From my heart and soul

Every day there is something to be grateful for
Into my "thank you" bowl, I pour
Cut-up pieces of paper in squares,
All my answered pray'rs

Thank you in every tongue
Spoken or sung
Makes you feel twice young

Everyone should have a "thank you" bowl
Tho each day takes its toll,
Thank-yous make you whole

I read in a religious book how a woman put notes of thank you in a bowl, so I decided to do the same. It's great how much you find you have to be thankful for at the end of the day! Thanks to seshadri_sreenivasan for artwork.
